Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced reimbursement for telemedicine at parity with office visits on a temporary and emergency basis.
Telemedicine needed to be legitimized as "an acceptable and equivalent mechanism for care delivery". Payors must permanently recognize the value of telemedicine care and to sustain appropriate reimbursement.
