The combined challenge of the availability of new technologies and new means of communication and the crisis in public finances has led the State to revisit the organization of its network of health services, which has resulted in the reconfiguration of this network in Montreal-Centre. This has meant a redefinition and reorganization of social and health services implying the reassignment of human, material, and financial resources in all the region’s health establishments (hospitals, CLSCs, etc.) and a reduction of the budgets devoted to health services.

La disponibilité de nouvelles technologies et de nouveaux moyens de communication conjuguée à la crise des finances publiques ont amené l'État à revoir l'organisation de son réseau de services de santé, ce qui a conduit à la reconfiguration de ce réseau sur le territoire de Montréal-Centre. La reconfiguration est entendue ici comme une redéfinition et une réorganisation des services et des soins de santé, ce qui implique une réaffectation des ressources tant humaines, matérielles que financières dans l'ensemble des établissements de santé (centres hospitaliers, CLSC, etc.) et une réduction du budget consacré aux services de santé.
